Power Bytes #2: Why You Should Know the Bible.
August 17, 2011
2 Timothy 3:16-17 -- "All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work." (ESV)
As we seek to more and more become a people of the Book, I want to give you a challenge with some quick reasons why you and I should know the Bible.
There are five key reasons for knowing the Bible:
(1). It gives substance to my faith. It grounds me in the Lord.
(2). It stabilizes me during times of testing and trials.
(3). It enables me to handle the Bible correctly.
(4). It equips me to detect and confront error.
(5). It makes me confident in my walk with the Lord.
Don't be surprised when you find me going deeper into each of these key reasons in future Pastor's Power Bytes.
Now hear this! This is important. There is no way to know God's Word and the life of power it will bring you, if you don't read it.
It works like this:
-- Read the Bible to Know the Bible...
-- Know the Bible to know truth...
-- Know the truth to be set free in Jesus...
-- Be set free in Jesus to experience the "Power Life" He offers. (cf. Phil. 4:13, 19)
Think on these things and let me know your thoughts. Remember you can reply to this email and of course, you will see me this Sunday, won't you?
See you Sunday with a Bible in my hand and a message on my heart,
